Healing from trauma is possible. No matter how complex the trauma, therapy can alleviate symptoms in the short term, while we help your nervous system to release the trauma bit by bit.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is one method that does this. It helps generate healing by getting memories “unstuck” from your nervous system. Through reprocessing the memory in a safe and therapeutic environment, you can release the triggers, reintroduce new beliefs about yourself, others, and the world, and experience a greater sense of safety in your body and mind.
Using IFS (Internal Family Systems), we will explore the intricate landscape of your inner world through what we call “parts work”. Imagine your emotions as distinct parts, or characters, each with their own feelings and desires. Through this creative approach, we will work together to understand and harmonize these inner voices, fostering self-compassion and uncovering the strength to face and overcome the impact of trauma.
